Frequently Asked Questions

  • While the exact clearing rate depends on the density of the vegetation and herd size, 15 adult goats can typically clear 1 acre of heavy brush in 3 weeks.

  • We use portable electric poly wire fencing to create secure, temporary paddocks. This allows us to target specific "hot spots" of overgrowth while keeping the goats away from sensitive areas, ornamental plants, or neighboring properties. This fencing is highly effective and can even be deployed across difficult terrain, such as steep hillsides or rocky ground.

  • Goats are natural "browsers" and prefer woody plants, brush, and invasive species over grass, although they certain do love to eat grass. They excel at eating:

    • Blackberry

    • English Ivy

    • Poison Oak

    • Scotch Broom

    • General weeds and grasses

  • Goats are better for:

    • Steep or difficult terrain where machinery cannot safely go.

    • Eco-friendly restoration, as they naturally fertilize the soil and don't require fossil fuels.

    • Eradicating brush in locations where herbicides aren’t desired or can’t be used.

    • Those that enjoy watching animals work, rather than mechanical machinery.

Mechanical brush cutting is often better for:

    • Flat, accessible terrain where speed is the primary factor.

    • Large pasture mowing

We offer both services and can recommend the best approach for your specific property.

  • We are based in Springfield, Oregon, and primarily serve the surrounding Lane County area. However, we’re willing to travel all across Oregon for the right job.

  • Pricing is determined by several factors, including the property size, type of vegetation, and terrain difficulty. We typically provide quotes on a per-acre or per-project basis. For ongoing maintenance on larger utility properties, we also offer competitive month-by-month rates per goat.

Baseline $1,500 per acre, but it can be lower or higher depending on the site specific factors.
